Health Care Summit Today

President Barack Obama is taking another step towards getting meaning health care reform passed during his presidency today by hosting a summit at Blair House featuring major congressional leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties.

He is also making it available for regular citizens such as you and me to "peek in" at these discussions and meetings by allowing for them to be televised live on major television cable networks today.  In doing so, he keeps a campaign pledge to make government more transparent, and especially on an issue as important as this one clearly is, I think it's important to applaude what he is attempting to do, both in making this a more open process and the actual process itself.  They say that there are two things that you never want the public at-large to see you make: sausage and laws.  But in this instance, on an issue so imprtant to the country and to his presidency, its important to acknowledge what President Obama is doing today.
